We strive to empower Asian youths to be proud of their heritage, increase political engagement through education, and push our narrative in a world that often overlooks the unique issues we face.

Chapter Lead/President

Matthew Chen

Executive Director

Matthew is a rising senior at Lowell High School and plans on pursuing a career in business management/marketing. Along with DAY, Matthew is the Founder and Editor in Chief of SWAYE Media, Co-Founder and Vice President of the Junior Economic Club of San Francisco, and currently interns for District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin's office. In school, Matthew is the President of the Red Cross club, and Vice President of Events at Key Club. Outside of school, Matthew is a bobarista at Boba Guys and enjoys singing, and visiting new food places around the city.

Leanna Le

Assistant Director

Leanna is an Asian-American and is currently a senior at Lowell High School. Outside of being the assistant director of Dear Asian Youth San Francisco, she works for the YMCA Youth Empowerment Fund, is a Lowell Parliamentary debater and helps tutor Chinese immersion kids. She hopes to pursue a career in the business industry. Her hobbies include hanging out with my friends, dancing, exploring the city, eating food, and trying out new things. She is super excited to be apart of the amazing board at DAYSF and empower other youth to be proud of their heritage!

Jonathan Nguyen

Finance Director

Jonathan Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American that was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He is a rising senior at Lowell High School and plans on pursuing a career in political science and public policy. Outside of DAY, Jonathan is involved with various clubs such as the Lowell Forensics Society and Lowell Model United Nations. In his free time, he loves to hang out with friends, listen to music, and try new foods. Jonathan is very excited to serve as the San Francisco chapter’s Finance Director and hopes to make a difference in the community by being apart of DAYSF!

Julia Ding

Marketing Director

Qianrong (Julia) Ding is currently a rising senior at Lowell High School and the Vice President of Lowell Team HBV, and secretary of Food For All. She is Chinese and was actually born in Yunnan, Kunming China. She plans on pursuing a career in architecture or engineering. In her free time, Julia likes to read, swim, play piano, journal, and do art projects. She also loves to collect stationary. Julia loves helping people and is very excited to be apart of DAY. She hopes that DAY can help others become aware of problems in our society!

Miyabi Yoshida

Projects Director

Miyabi is a Japanese-Vietnamese American and is currently a junior at Lowell High School. She is passionate about social justice and activism and is interested in pursuing a career in international law in the future. She loves dancing, from professional dance classes to learning kpop dance covers at home, and is even on the Lowell SONG team at school. Her other hobbies include traveling, binging tv shows, drinking (A LOT) of boba, and dyeing her hair!

Angelina Wang

Outreach Coordinator

Angelina Wang is a (rising) senior at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino with a passion for computer science, graphic design, and psychology, hoping to combine these subjects in her future studies and career. She holds several positions at her school, including being an officer for the Dance Team and an Outreach Commissioner for ASB and Leadership. She is also the marketing lead and organizer for JAMHacks, a high school hackathon based in Waterloo, Canada, where she moved from just a year ago! In her free time, she loves to dance, listen to music, and rewatch The Office. She is super excited to be a part of DAY @ SF and hopes to promote activism pertaining to Asian communities!

Kaitlyn Lee

Kaitlyn is currently a junior at Lowell High School and the Treasurer of the LSA 2024 Board, Lowell Science Research Program, and Pre-med club. Outside of school, she loves to bake, read, watch TV, and hang out with friends. She is passionate about helping her community and is interested in pursuing a career in the public health field. She is excited to be a part of the DAY SF board and hopes to spread awareness on current issues!

Madeline Yang

Graphic Designer

Madeline Yang is currently a rising junior at Lowell High School. She is a member of Lowell Song and KOEX, plays for the Lowell volleyball team, and has been a member of the LSA 2024 Board since Freshman year. She is also a PR officer for multiple clubs and organizations. She has many hobbies, some of which include drawing, painting, dancing, journaling, watching kdrama and anime, and traveling. Maddie also loves kpop and Sanrio. She is excited to be a part of the team and is looking forward to working with DAY to support the youth community.

Sasha McCurley

Graphic Designer

Sasha is a half-Chinese rising senior in the visual arts department of Ruth Asawa SotA. As a queer Asian teen, they are especially passionate about issues related to intersectionality. They are interested in careers in graphic design and fine arts. Sasha is Design Lead for SotA's Yearbook Club as well as Co-Founder/President of the Art Therapy Club. On weekends, they work at Earthfire Arts and volunteer on ArtSeed's Youth Council.
